13 Pre-School Teachers Recognised at the 8th Mother Tongue Languages Symposium

The 8th Mother Tongue Languages Symposium recognised 13 outstanding pre-school MTL teachers and featured interactive activities, workshops and exhibitions promoting joyful MTL learning.
Minister for Education Mr Ong Ye Kung and Senior Minister of State for Education Mr Chee Hong Tat presented the Outstanding Pre-school Mother Tongue Language (OPMTL) Teacher Award at the 8th Mother Tongue Languages Symposium on 24 August 2019. Six pre-school teachers received the Outstanding Award and seven received the Merit Award, selected from 115 nominations.
Jointly presented by CPCLL, MLLPC and TLLPC, the OPMTL Teacher Award recognises pre-school teachers for making Mother Tongue Language learning engaging and nurturing children’s interest in the languages. Recipients were selected by a panel of nine experienced pre-school educators and academics through lesson observations and interviews.
The 8th MTL Symposium brought schools and the community together to share creative approaches to promoting Mother Tongue Languages. Themed A Garden for Joyful Discovery, the Symposium featured interactive activities, performances, 40 sharing sessions and workshops, as well as 43 exhibition booths showcasing innovative teaching methods and community programmes.
