14 Pre-School Teachers Recognised at the 9th Mother Tongue Languages Symposium

The 9th Mother Tongue Languages Symposium went virtual as e-MTLS, featuring interactive programmes and recognising 14 outstanding pre-school Mother Tongue Language teachers.

Minister for Education Mr Lawrence Wong launched the 9th Mother Tongue Languages Symposium (MTLS), held virtually as e-MTLS, on 29 August 2020.

At the Symposium, 14 pre-school teachers were recognised with the Outstanding Pre-school Mother Tongue Language Award, with seven receiving the Outstanding Award and seven receiving the Merit Award. The recipients were selected from 84 nominations. Jointly presented by CPCLL, MLLPC and TLLPC, the award recognises pre-school teachers who make Mother Tongue Language learning engaging and nurture children’s interest in the languages.

Now in its ninth year, MTLS brings schools and the community together to share creative and engaging approaches to promoting Mother Tongue Languages. Highlights of e-MTLS included a live panel discussion on creating immersive MTL learning environments at home and in the community, a virtual gallery featuring 35 exhibits, and 18 sharing sessions by education experts, celebrity parents and speakers. An Online Quest featuring eight interactive games was also made available as part of the Symposium.
