Five Teachers Lauded for Contributions Towards Teaching and Learning of Malay Language

Five Malay Language teachers were recognised with the Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Award for their outstanding contributions to Malay Language teaching and learning. The finalists and awardees received their awards from Minister for Education Mr Chan Chun Sing, who was Guest-of-Honour at the ceremony.

Now in its 16th year, the Awards have recognised 69 primary, secondary and pre-university Malay Language teachers. The Awards are presented in two categories: the Role Model Category for teachers with 10 years or more of teaching experience, and the Motivation Category for those with less than 10 years of teaching experience.

All Malay Language teachers in local mainstream schools were eligible for nomination based on their performance and contributions from 2020 to 2021. A total of 344 nominations for 160 teachers were received between February and April 2022. The awardees were selected by a panel comprising community leaders, academics, school leaders and media representatives.

The Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Award is jointly organised by the Malay Language Council Singapore, Malay Language Teachers Association, Berita Harian, and the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee (MLLPC).
