Katapella 2026: Over 200 Students Advance to Finals of National Malay Choral Recitation Competition

Over 200 students competed in the finals of Katapella 2026, Singapore's national Malay choral recitation competition. Catch it on Suria and MeWatch on 14 and 21 Aug at 8.30pm.
More than 200 students from six primary and six secondary schools have advanced to the finals of Katapella 2026, Singapore's annual national Malay choral recitation competition. Competing before a live audience, students showcased their linguistic talents and creative expressions in the Malay language.
Jointly organised by the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee and Mediacorp, Katapella aims to foster a deeper appreciation for the Malay language and culture beyond the classroom.
The competition will be broadcast on Suria and MeWatch over two hour-long episodes. Tune in on the following dates:
Primary school category: Friday, 14 August, 8.30pm
Secondary school category: Friday, 21 August, 8.30pm
