Nominations Open For Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Award 2021

Students, educators, parents and members of the public were invited to nominate outstanding Malay Language teachers for the Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Award (AGAB) 2021. The award recognises teachers in primary and secondary schools, junior colleges and Millennia Institute for their significant contributions to Malay Language teaching and learning.

Since its inception in 2007, AGAB had recognised 64 Malay Language teachers across primary, secondary and pre-university levels. In 2021, four awards were presented across two categories: Primary School, and Secondary School & Pre-university.

Nominees were assessed on their ability to nurture students’ knowledge, skills and interest in the Malay language, literature and culture, both in and beyond the classroom, as well as their care for students’ needs and well-being. They were also expected to embody the values of Arif Budiman through dedication, commitment and exemplary service as educators.

Nominations were open from 22 February to 9 April 2021. AGAB 2021 was jointly organised by the Malay Language Council, Singapore, Malay Language Teachers’ Association, Berita Harian and the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee, with recipients announced in November 2021.
