Nominations Open for Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Award 2026

From 2 February to 13 March 2026, students, educators, parents and members of the public were invited to nominate outstanding Malay Language teachers for the Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Award (AGAB) 2026.

Jointly organised by the Malay Language Council, Malay Language Teachers Association, Berita Harian and the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee, the award recognises Malay Language teachers across primary and secondary schools, junior colleges and the Millennia Institute for their contributions to teaching and learning.

Nominees are assessed on their ability to engage students in the Malay language, literature and culture through innovative teaching approaches and digital tools, support students’ well-being and holistic development, and exemplify the values of Arif Budiman through their service as educators.

Since its inception in 2007, AGAB has honoured 83 Malay Language teachers. In 2026, awards are presented in two categories: the Motivation Award for teachers with fewer than 10 years of service, and the Role Model Award for those with 10 years or more.
