Popular Nabil Nabilah Book Series Extended to Kindergarten Children to Promote Malay Language Learning

The Nabil Nabilah Reader Series expanded to pre-school with 20 new storybooks featuring local culture and Malay folklore, bringing the full collection to 62 titles from pre-school to Primary 6.
Second Minister for Education and Chairperson of the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee (MLLPC), Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman, launched the Nabil Nabilah Reader Series for Kindergarten 1 and 2 children virtually on 22 September 2021.
First introduced in 2015 for Primary 1 and 2 pupils, the series uses its main characters, Nabil and Nabilah, to encourage a love for reading and develop Malay literacy skills from a young age. It was subsequently extended to Primary 3 and 4 students in 2018.
The latest collection for pre-school children features stories written by Malay Language pre-school educators, drawing on local culture, contexts and Malay folklore. The collection comprises 20 storybooks, with 10 titles for each kindergarten level, and was distributed to all pre-schools offering Malay Language.
With the addition of the pre-school collection, the Nabil Nabilah Reader Series comprises 62 storybooks covering learners from pre-school to Primary 6, available in both print and digital formats. MLLPC also provides online worksheets for parents to support Malay Language learning at home.
