Students Demonstrate Creativity and Vocal Talent at Malay Choral Recitation Competition

Katapella 2026 saw over 200 students from 12 primary and secondary schools advance to the finals, showcasing their creativity and talent in the Malay language.

More than 200 students from six primary and six secondary schools advanced to the finals of Katapella 2026, Singapore's annual national Malay choral recitation competition. Competing before a live audience, students showcased their linguistic talents and creative expressions in the Malay language. Please see the Annex (opens in new tab)for the list of finalists.

2. Jointly organised by the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee (MLLPC) and Mediacorp, Katapella aims to foster in students a deeper appreciation for the Malay language and culture beyond the classroom.

3. The competition finals will be broadcast on Mediacorp's Suria and MeWatch over two hour-long episodes. The primary school category will air on 14 August 2026 at 8.30pm, followed by the secondary school category on 21 August 2026 at 8.30pm.
