Students Recognised for Efforts to Foster Appreciation for Malay Culture

The Malay Finesse Video Competition saw student teams from 40 schools use creative formats to promote Malay culture and etiquette, with eight schools receiving top awards.
Student teams from 40 schools took part in the Malay Finesse Video Competition during the June school holidays, using skits, TikTok videos and TED Talk-style presentations to showcase creative ideas for promoting Malay culture and etiquette. Eight schools emerged as award winners and received their prizes at the Malay Finesse Fiesta on 16 July 2022.
Second Minister for Education Dr Maliki Osman delivered a speech highlighting the importance of using creative approaches to help young people learn and appreciate Malay culture, values and heritage. The winning entries were also published on MLLPC’s social media platforms.
In its third year, the Malay Finesse Fiesta is part of MLLPC’s efforts to deepen awareness and appreciation of Malay finesse, referring to the social customs and etiquette that are integral to Malay culture. The event featured exhibition booths showcasing Malay finesse in everyday life, alongside an attempt by close to 50 schools to set a Singapore Book of Records achievement for the largest display of original Malay poems.
